This course develops the level of knowledge, judgement and techniques required to carry out safe water rescues. This award, if used as a professional qualification, is valid for 12 months only. Candidates who have completed a recognised resuscitation award within the previous 6 months may request recognition for the resuscitation component of the course (must bring a photocopy with you).
A part of the Pool Bronze Medallion Course is the fitness test which includes a 400m swim in 13 minutes. Prior to attending the course candidates should, as a guide, be able to swim 200m freestyle continuously within 6 minutes and practice the other 3 strokes.
