Just before Hot 91's broadcast began DJ Bevo went for a dip in the pool, sadly (or conveniently) just missing the Aqua class that was on before he arrived otherwise I would have insisted he gave that a go! Still he was game for a few runs over our new Hot Rocket and Streets Challenger inflatables (aptly named by Bevo). Daring him to a contest on each inflatable I was certain I was going to go further than he could, unfortunately this wasn't actually the case as we tied with 6 metres each on the Hot Rocket and neither of us even got over the first hump on the Challenger (and you're still wondering why we call it that!). Of course the party was actually for the kids and inevitably they showed us up with most of them getting easily across both.
Both Nambour and Coolum pools also had a great turn out with heaps of free stuff for the kids and competitions on the go. The Hot Fm Hot Rods made an appearance at each of the centres much to everyones delight. And yes, the rain did eventually come however it managed to hold off long enough for our live radio broadcast to finish and all our prize winners to be announced. I can safely say that all the kids had a great time throughout the day and that the parents would have had a quiet and relaxing Friday night. Okay, I'll admit I was a little concerned when the rain was pouring down on Thursday night and it looked like the Mega Pool Party might just be a wash out on the day. However I sent up a little prayer to the weather gods and trusted that they would deliver. Friday dawned, we had a few showers and then right on 10am the sun came out and the party started and what a party it was!
At 1pm the much anticipated Pandora's Competition was held at Cotton Tree Pool with all 20 contestants diving down to the bottom of the pool to retrieve their Pandora's Boxes. A very ecstatic Jamie from Buderim escaped a "foot-in-eye injury" to claim the $1000 Pandora's prize by Diamonds of Distinction. Equally ecstatic was Mary from Kuluin and her family who were the lucky winners of the Life Time Membership to any Swim Fit managed centre on the coast.
